They say necessity is the mother of invention, and necessity played a big part in the creation of Southern Cross Bakery. Founders John and Julianne Clarke, respectively from New Zealand and Australia, grew up eating meat pies, but they were hard to find when the Clarke family moved to the US.
We started making our own, giving them to friends and neighbors, who encouraged us to make them available to the wider public. The recipes are drawn from our friends and family back home, including grandparents, parents, aunts, and siblings.
We’re proud to bring a taste of our home to you, and hope our tradition can become part of yours as well.
