We’re looking forward to supplying the local Australian community with pies this coming Saturday at the Kensington Farmer’s Market for Australia Day. We’re making extra but please do pre-order via email southerncrossbakery@gmail.com so we can set your order aside and we won’t risk disappointing you. Pies this weekend at Kensington, MD (Saturday) and Olney (MD) Sunday:

Steak&Cheese, Classic Beef, Chicken&Mushroom, Chicken Curry, Chicken&Bacon, Steak&Guinness plus Sausage Rolls and Anzac Biscuits.





Dear supporters, thanks so much for being loyal customers through 2016. We are excited to launch “Friends of Southern Cross Bakery” – an email group through which we will advise of new products, events and specials, including code words to get additional discounts! Please note we will continue trading through the winter at the Kensington Market on Saturdays, and the Olney Market on Sundays despite the cold. You are welcome to pre-order via email and we will have them ready for you when you arrive.

Bracing For Winter!


Dear supporters,

We will be trading at the Kensington Farmer’s Market (Saturdays) and the Olney Farmer’s Market (Sundays) through the winter: both are open 52 weeks a year and we will be there for you (except for Thanksgiving weekend when we’ll be taking some sun in Florida!). By popular demand we have brought back our Fall Turkey Pie, with an entire meal including roast turkey, gravy, sweet potato, stuffing and cranberry sauce in one pie, until Christmas.

Expanding Our Product Range

We’re happy to advise that we have expanded our product range, including having more vegetarian pies in our offering. We now have three vegetarian pies: Leek & Gruyere, Spanakopita, and Spicy Butternut Squash, with a curried vegetable pie on the way! These complement our meat pie range, which includes: Classic Beef, Steak & Cheese,  Minted Lamb, Chicken Curry, Chicken & Bacon, Bacon & Egg, Steak & Guinness, Chicken & Mushroom, along with our customer favorite, sage-flavored Sausage Rolls, and specialist seasonal pies.

Weekend Weather Woes

A change of plan for this weekend (February 13-14): the weather is playing havoc with us. 45 mph gusts forecast for Saturday which will turn our canopy into a sail. Been there before and it’s miserable. We’ve decided not to trade on Saturday at the Kensington Farmer’s Market, but instead to brave the cold on Sunday morning at Olney instead. Apologies for changes, but one way or another, if you want pies or sausage rolls this weekend, including our yummy Valentine’s Pie, you can get them!
